Here's a new one from an old mate, one man band Bastien Keb. Some of you I'm sure can remember when Keb dropped off Vibes #58 some two and a half years ago, and as lovely as that was, this one's even better. On this winding selection everything from spiritual jazz & samba to Velvet Underground is touched on, with Fela, Broadcast, Bastien Keb originals and vocal samples thrown in to create an incredibly laid back experience. Keb, along with my last few contributors seem to know exactly what I like. Enjoy the mix, check the man's music, and see you back here soon.

Another amazing mix from an ultra-talented friend from Canterbury, episode 79 comes courtesy of Dorovio Bold. Also known as Raven Bush, Mr. Bold got his lovely name from a character in Return of The Jedi played by his mom (but unfortunately cut from the film). He plays violin in the incredible psychedelic jam band Syd Arthur, and his productions are overflowing with warped samples, strings, found sounds, and all sorts of other worldly reverberations. After stumbling across his beat stuff online I really can't get enough of it. Luckily here's a chance to pick his brain a bit, and hear several exclusive Dorovio Bold tunes, as well as things from his extended musical family. Big tip this one, enjoy.

Here's another selection just before February ducks out; 40 or so minutes of some of my favorite Polish jazz tunes. The mix is bookended by two tributes to the legendary Krzysztof Komeda, and primarily features groups from the 60's released on the Polski Nagrania 'Muza' label. Hope you dig it, be back soon with more vibes.

Happy New Year folks. Vibes enters it's fifth calendar year of existence with a second selection from good (great) friend Beams. This refreshing little mix is 1) comprised entirely of music from 2011 and 2) was made on the Canterbury producer's iPhone, using a DJ application costing approximately 69 pence. Technology aside, it's really very good, and a testament to dude's tastes. Maybe you could have a spin while you think about better ways you could be spending your time? Lord know we did. Cheers Beams!

Our last mix of the year comes to us from Australian producer Thomas William. Known to many as Cleptocleptics for quite some time, Tom is a vet of the Sydney electronic scene, and has played out all across the country. Under his fresh new guise, he's just released an amazing free album on Melbourne based This Thing. His selection here, pieced together sometime in Autumn, is just as varied and detuned as his music, showcasing everything from folk to noise to beats to gospel. When you're done having a spin, stop by This Thing to download the man's latest. Dope shit all around, enjoy.

after a much needed sabbatical of approximately 7 months (shit), I've decided to bring the old podcast back around. my good friend Tommy Tempa was kind enough to pitch me this mix a few months ago, and it's just as mesmerizing now as it was then. consisting of music from his contemporaries, a few originals from the man himself, field recordings and some classics, this selection will instantly appeal to anyone taken by Tom's 'Quixotic EP', which is still very much in rotation. his music and this mix are a seamless combination of beat and melody, pop and electronic that beg to be listened to over and over. hope you dig, be back real soon with another.

big mix for you to start off the month from London five-piece powerhouse Laurel Collective (http://LaurelCollective.com). Martin, Bob, Olly, Charlie & Mark are crafters of big, melodious pop songs, and have bounced around the UK performing, putting on nights, and releasing singles on Pure Groove, Domino, & Tape Club. They're also responsible for the In The Woods festival held every year in Kent, the subject of two terrific documentaries by our last guest mixer Poppie Sköld. They're basically a cool bunch of talented guys, and this mix (their first) is a who's who of 21st-century London pop music. Anchored in the middle by "Sunshine Buddy", the first single from their upcoming debut album, and full of exclusives from their amazing circle of musician friends, this is not one to miss. enjoy.

our 72nd mix comes courtesy of Poppie Sköld, a filmmaker/visual artist from London. This young lady has kept busy the last two years, documenting the In The Woods music festival twice, filming numerous musical performances in and around London (These New Puritans, Micachu & The Shapes, Connan Mockasin, to name a few), and completing a music video & tour documentary for The Invisible. All of her music-related stuff, plus interest pieces/video portraits/scripted things are readily available for viewing at www.PoppieSkold.com. After becoming cognizant of her work, and subsequently becoming a huge a fan, Poppie and I had the pleasure of hanging out over the holidays in New York. we discussed art, life, music & film, and she made me this lovely mix. have a listen, hope you enjoy.

our last mix of the year comes courtesy of You Can't Touch A Ghost aka Slidell, Louisiana native Justin Young. Mr. Young (http://www.myspace.com/youcan39ttouchaghost), an amazing songwriter in his own right, provided me with a selection of amazing songs out of the blue. being a close friend of Vibes alumni Jamey Brown, I had a listen, and was pretty much blown away. it's a more soulful, jazzy mix than you may be used to hearing here, but since when was that a bad thing. enjoy.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for continuing to listen to Vibes in 2010, and I hope you see you all back bright and early next year. happy holidays and may your respective gods bless you always.
