RE:Mixtape (6/13/07)
after 32 bars (only 2 verses) of rapping in my last two mixes combined (ouch), I think it’s about time to return to my hip-hop roots. that being said, this one is some ol’ dirty beathead s*#t. one hour of remixes by the likes of Dilla, Madlib, Flying Lotus, Pete Rock, Illmind, 9th Wonder, Samiyam, Heralds Of Change, Ras G, Edan, and several more of hip-hop’s illest beatsmiths. this is not pleasent background music, it’s raw, dirty hip-hop with bad sound quality and too much low end (although, to be fair, the mix smooths out in the end thanks to a pair of Dilla reinterpretations, R.I.P.). this is something I would probably have dubbed on a cassete tape for you at a different time and place. like Dilla said, bang it in your jeep.
p.s. if this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, fuck it, it’s mine.
